The Challenge
Create a set of stationary items for government officials of Blue Island, IL. The design needed to work seamlessly with existing brand guidelines, utilizing an established logo, typography, and color palette. Additionally, all stationary items had to be adaptable for different departments and leadership roles within the organization.

Design Process
With Blue Island’s deep historical roots and strong community presence, the stationery needed to feel both official and inviting. To achieve this, I started by reviewing the city’s existing branding, ensuring that all elements created for this set aligned seamlessly with their established identity.
From there, I developed three distinct design concepts, balancing classic and modern aesthetics. The typography played a key role in striking this balance, utilizing a mix of Serif and Sans Serif fonts to convey both tradition and functionality. The color palette maintained the city’s signature navy and gold, reinforcing familiarity and trust. Layout refinements focused on clarity, ensuring that each piece—from business cards to letterheads—would maintain a clean and professional presentation.
Once the final design was approved, I worked closely with local print vendors to select high-quality materials and finishes that would enhance the final look of the stationery. Paper weight and textures were carefully considered to add a tactile, premium touch. Special attention was given to the business cards and letterheads used by top officials, ensuring they reflected the city’s prestige while maintaining durability for everyday use.
The Result
After rounds of proofing and adjustments, the final stationery set was printed and distributed, beginning with the mayor’s office before expanding to other departments. This process ensured brand consistency across all official communications prior to a full roll out, while reinforcing a polished and unified identity for city officials.
By balancing tradition with a fresh, structured design, the final set not only honored Blue Island’s history but also strengthened communication, trust, and professionalism within the community. This project was a valuable opportunity to merge branding consistency with practical application, creating a lasting visual system for the city’s leadership.
