The Challenge
As the sole designer during a four-year period for Unique Computing Solutions, an IT Service Provider supporting small to mid-sized businesses in Chicago, my role was to re-establish a consistent brand identity across all digital and print assets. Prior to my involvement, UCS struggled with a cohesive visual presence and structured messaging, making it difficult to gain exposure in a highly competitive industry.

Core Process
I was tasked with developing core strategies and guidelines for branding, marketing materials, social media, and digital content, ensuring that every outward-facing asset aligned with the mission and communicated its value clearly. The challenge was not only to modernize the brand but also to create a scalable foundation for future marketing efforts—one that remained adaptable as the company evolved.
The first step was evaluating existing materials to determine what was working, what wasn’t, and where opportunities existed to strengthen UCS’s presence. With this insight, I began implementing a structured brand identity across multiple channels.
- Social Media Revamp: One of the first priorities was re-establishing UCS’s presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter, which previously lacked consistency or engagement. Weekly content creation expanded to include video assets, white papers, promotional events, and industry-related discussions. This helped to get UCS back out into the public view while working behind the scenes to establish additional assets.
- Website Overhaul: The existing website, while functional and modern, required third-party subscription services that were often not required for a primarily static site design. I led a transition to a modern WordPress environment, rebuilding the site, improving security, content management, and overall user experience while eliminating third-party support needs and reducing plug-in dependency. New pages were designed, a weekly blog was established, and each page on the site now included several ways of contacting UCS directly.
- Print & Sales Collateral: I developed flyers, sales sheets, and welcome packages for technicians and executives, featuring industry-specific talking points and service offerings. UCS-branded promotional items like pens and mousepads were also introduced to maintain brand visibility within client environments.
Strategy and Outreach
Beyond digital and print design, I developed and managed strategic marketing initiatives aimed at increasing UCS’s visibility and client engagement while optimizing internal resources.
- Held monthly marketing and planning meetings with senior executives to analyze trends, discuss strategy, and plan upcoming campaigns. These meetings ensured that UCS’s marketing approach was both data-driven and aligned with business goals.
- Managed and maintained a database of LinkedIn connections and business lists, using them to develop and refine targeted email campaigns. These campaigns were crafted using third-party software, ensuring personalized messaging and increasing lead generation potential.
- Eliminated the need for external marketing agencies, bringing all branding, design, and marketing strategies in-house, which resulted in an annual budget reduction of $30,000 while improving consistency and execution speed.
- Designed and implemented scalable marketing strategies that could adapt as UCS grew, ensuring long-term sustainability without additional costs.
Large Scale Initiatives
In addition to ongoing efforts, I led the development of two major projects that became essential tools for UCS’s client engagement, training, and sales strategy. These initiatives provided scalable, long-term solutions that enhanced both internal operations and client education.

- Corporate Presentation Deck – Designed a fully customizable presentation template with over 400 slide variations giving UCS staff a professional and flexible tool for client interactions. I worked closely with technical experts to understand the technologies and services offered to develop slides covering key areas like Cyber Security, Infrastructure Management, SaaS Solutions, Pricing Modules, and Client Testimonials.
- E-Learning Cyber Defense Course – Partnered with a third-party vendor to develop an online security training platform for clients. This involved structuring the course, creating custom training simulations, managing client onboarding and communications, data retention and explanation for executives, and ensuring successful implementation across multiple organizations.
The Result
Over the course of my time with UCS (2018-2022), the company established a professional, cohesive brand identity that positioned them as a trusted, recognizable name in the IT industry. By introducing structured branding, marketing strategies, and digital upgrades, UCS was able to significantly enhance its credibility, client engagement, and overall market presence.
The transition to an in-house marketing model not only saved resources but also gave UCS complete creative control over its messaging. From print materials to digital campaigns, the company could now confidently present itself with consistency, clarity, and professionalism.
These efforts laid a strong foundation for UCS’s future, ensuring that as the company continued to grow, its branding and marketing strategies could scale alongside it.
